Does Vitamin A in skin care products have a downside?
Most Vitamin A compounds are acids of various strengths. Acids are an oxidant that cause some level of damage to skin cells. Often controlled damaged to the outer layer of skin are part of the treatment process that yields beneficial results.
Effective acne treatments at Revive depend on cleaning impacted poor openings by peeling the clogged outer layers of skin. Once the clogged pores are open other products keep the pores from clogging again. This one, two punch process helps us clear your acne and keep your skin acne free. Our effective rosecea treatment uses 3-4 Vitamin A peels as part of the therapy in between anti-oxidant treatments that reduces inflammation as much as possible.
Our long-term skin care goals are to keep your skin as healthy as possible and to greatly slow the aging process. Most of our treatments and skincare take home therapy don’t have oxidants, like Vitamin A, compounds.
Put simply, oxidants kill skin cells and anti-oxidation helps cells thrive.
Laser Hair Removal
What laser is the most effective for hair removal?
The goal for permanent hair removal is to destroy the hair follicle without hurting your skin. YAG and Alexandrite lasers are the most effective lasers for permanent hair removal depending on the color of your hair and skin. Other kinds of lasers are not as effective for hair removal.
Can lasers be used to remove hair from any part of the body?
Lasers can be used to safely remove unwanted hair.
Can laser hair removal be done on any skin color?
The YAG and Alexandrite lasers can safely remove hair on any skin color. Intense Pulse Light (IPL) machines cannot be used on brown or black skin.
Can I get a laser treatment anytime?
Yes, if the area being treated is not generally exposed to sun. Safe laser hair removal on skin that does get exposed to sun can be done after two weeks of careful sunscreen protection.

Q What is Perlane® used for?
A Perlane® is used to smooth moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles such as the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasal-labial folds). Perlane® generally lasts for about 6 months. It has been found to be a safe dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin.
Q How does Perlane® work?
A Perlane® is injected into the skin with an ultra fine needle. It plumps the skin to smooth away wrinkles and folds. Perlane’s water-loving nature attracts and binds water molecules to maintain volume.
Perlane® is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the body. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® is a crystal clear gel that is chemically cross-linked (the long chemical strands are tied together) to delay breakdown by skin enzymes. Perlane® is non-animal-based and free from animal protein. This quality prevents disease transmission. Allergy pre-testing is not necessary.

INFLAMMATION AND AGING
The genetic effects of aging are now known to begin for most people around sixty years of age. Any aging that occurs before that magic number is the result of your environment and lifestyle choices. The causes of environmental aging include such varied results from over exposure to the sun, your diet and lifestyle choices.
Visible results of inflammation, like a sunburn, means that layers of skin have become severely damaged. The toxins we take in also have long-term effects on our skin. Smoking and, to a lesser extent, air pollution also contributes to internal inflammation, just like a sunburn. It is the toxins in the smoke delivers that causes the most damage, not the ash in the smoke itself.
Diet is the primary cause of internal inflammation at a cellular level. Sugars, simple carbohydrates and saturated fats are the primary causes of inflammation in our cells, including our skin. Internal inflammation causes glycation (a “burning” of the cells) and damages their ability to fully function. The process of glycation is what causes cookies to turn brown on their edges when the combination of sugar and fat are exposed to heat. Cellular inflammation occurs when sugar and fat interact with each other in cells. The damage from the “browning” of the cells gives an idea of the effects these types of foods can have on our body.
Repeated inflammation can cause cells to prematurely die and reduce the amount of cells that can be replicated in our bodies. Greatly reducing sugars, carbohydrates and fats from our diet can greatly reduce inflammation in our cells and dramatically slow the effects of the environmental aging. Unfortunately, your skin is also damaged caused by the effects of inflammation.
Taking specific supplements can help to improve our internal health by adding anti-oxidants to our system and, as a result, also improve our skin’s health and appearance.
